In this paper #2, I was able to see what current or previous event made me linger and caught my attention. In doing so, I analyzed the women’s rights movement and interpreted how rhetorical devices were used to make their claims more effective.
2. Example – Homework: Analogy and Allusion Assignment
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1W5I7xU0Vs4eqoCUoSWImuI0F_a_Qs8RVXVZMwXlIdHk/edit?usp=sharing
Within this assignment, we had to interpret the examples given in the book and explain how effective their analogy and allusion were. In addition, we had to find our own articles that had specific phrases with analogies and allusions in order to better comprehend the rhetorical strategy.
3. Writing into the Day
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Uu8dXAFnje3L-69tQVKj_1VMeYWGca7q/view?usp=sharing
Into our writing into the day, we would look at pictures collectively and determine which type of appeal each advertisement had. By having group discussions we would hear the different interpretations everybody had and make conversation in order to understand romance, sex, and gender appeals.
4. Finding examples of different emotional appeals
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C1pR2dkUmwDph_SxXSj2SPPtaD1DkSuJwHn-KwMUTiU/edit?usp=sharing
Within this assignment, we had to look at our own glittering generalities, climax, parallelism, euphemism, and transfer. By looking up and making our own emotional appeals we get a better understanding of how they work in order to persuade the audience.
5. Peer Review
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1oHZjkTkrrISYsEyJm26S3quGf_0Qrhh-XtrxQzf5h7A/edit?usp=sharing
Before we submitted our final papers, we had to structure a draft that would flow us into our final draft. This is my first draft for my Paper #1 “This I No Longer Believe In”. Throughout these peer reviews, we would get our own paper to look over and edit and write feedback on the blackboard, in order to help us improve and construct our paper.
