Rhetorical Landscape

The rhetorical landscape essay was to illustrate our comprehension of the rhetorical triangle which was knowing the influences of the speaker, message, and audience. By understanding the rhetorical triangle within this assignment we had to discuss a social movement either past or current and discuss the impacts the rhetorical choices had on the message and how effective it was in delivering suggestions and improvements for that situation. Overall, I knew this paper felt rushed for me and did not receive as much attention as it deserved. I picked women’s rights because I continue to believe this is a current issue that has been left unaddressed. For this prompt, I picked the women’s rights movement and Hillary Clinton United Nations Conference. These two main events that contributed to women’s ens rights, picking these two events allowed me to build credibility and narrate the difference of women’s rights throughout time. This helped demonstrate what caused the change in women rights and the outcome of the change.  I started off by illustrating each situation and slowly explaining the rhetorical devices used.. However, I believe if I was to revise this essay I would have input my opinion more. I believe I kept this paper strictly rhetorical strategy based and forgot to implement my thought on the topic. Though I mentioned my viewpoint on the topic, it was not as effective as it could have been. Looking back at the paper it felt more like side comments rather than an argument. The purpose of this essay was to describe and explain how the rhetorical device was effective on women’s right while also explaining and highlighting the main issue, which was women before and now still lacks representation. Unfortunately, I believe this paper lacked opinion, emotions and thoughts. Not to mention but I believe in order to have expanded my viewpoint on this topic I should have added an additional source that displayed the positive change in women’s right in this day while also expressing the negative that women suffer now. I believe this would have contribute to my own ethos and pathos, it would have helped create a more significant and effective appeal. However, this paper made me realize how much rhetorical devices we use in real life. Before writing this paper I was unaware of how much rhetorical strategy we use in our everyday life. It was not until I started to depict these events closely and pay more attention to their wording that I realized the effect of their word choices.
