The revisions made in this paper were slight. I mainly focused on the conclusion. When writing the paper I felt like I could have had a stronger conclusion that emphasizes a solution to the cause of colorism. In the paper, since I discuss how colorism has affected us, Hispanics I wanted to address the issue at the end. At the end of the conclusion I had decided to take the approach of stating a way hispanics can overcome colorism. The solution I decided to include was educating the elderly and removing outdated traditional views that has been passed down for generations. For generations many hispanics grew with the custom of believing that the color of your skin represents your beauty. Although, we are all accepting of everybody in our community, we make slight comments that can come off as offensive. My solution to the situation is for our new generation to take responsibility and accountability for educating our elders. If we educate our elders into realizing that their outdated views are no longer around, it can help set fourth the community. By starting with the elder, we can continue to educate the generations that are arising. It is never unknown in the community the harm colorism brings not only to our self-esteem but the image we demonstrate to other communities. Which is why I mentioned in the revised conclusion that we must learn to accept one another because if not we are causing ourselves to be seen differently through other communities as well. The way we treat ourselves is displayed and can be replicated through other communities if we do not address the issue on colorism. Overall, colorism is a difficult topic to tackle, however with the proper information I believe it can be changed. As a result, I tried my best to highlight that in my conclusion. I believe with a stronger conclusion the paper would tie better.
